About Me: my writing, my life and the pursuits I enjoy.
I started writing in 1989 when I had two babies in diapers. I had been teaching for 9 years, but that June I began writing fulltime.
I started writing children's stories, but soon realized I enjoyed reading and writing romances. Less than two years afterward, my first book was bought by Silhouette Books.
I am a member of Romance Writers of America and a former member of Washington Romance Writers, where I sat on the board for a total of seven years, served twice as Vice President, twice as Retreat Chair, and in too many other capacities to name (or remember!).
After 15 years and 30-some secular romance fiction stories, I began writing for Guideposts Books, and my first book for them was published in 2007. My 12th book for Guideposts Books will be published later this year.
Listing my interests depends on what day you catch me. Some of the more enduring include various needle arts, sewing, growing things, theatre & dance and scrapbooking. Animals... well, they have a whole page of their very own, so if you're an animal lover, better scurry on over there!
Below is a cross-stitch sampler I completed for a dear friend who directs the theatre troupe at my former church. I designed it to include all the shows she has directed, many of which my family and I were a part.
I love flowering plants and unique leaves. My office looks like a jungle in the winter when I bring everything inside. Below: African violets, Christmas cactus and rex begonias.
Home & Family
I grew up in south-central PA where I have extensive family ties. In 2007, we moved to State College, PA, affectionately known as "Happy Valley," home of Penn State University and the mighty Nittany Lions. Fortunately, I have dear friends who forgave me for moving away, and we still get together several times a year for scrapbooking retreats, Christmas gatherings, our children's major life events and troublemaking.
My younger daughter, my husband and I currently are owned by 2 dogs and 3 cats, in addition to the rescue work we do. Read about it in the "Animal Activities" section! Below is Scout, our 9-year-old German shepherd.
Bearded rises are my favorite flower. Below is one of my prettiest of 2011.
